How do you get noticed by your next employer and recruitment agency? Feel like you are slipping through the cracks? We have read well over 100,000 resumes in the last year. That’s a lot of potential candidates.
Here are our top resume writing tips to make sure you are getting the interview.
It can be daunting to summarise the last year, two, three or however long you have been with your last job for. What most job seekers do, especially if they are just starting out, is to over crowd the resume with all tasks. No one wants to read a full itemised list of every task. The trick is to really assess the key accomplishments you are wanting to promote about yourself. Making sure to outline what accomplishments align to the job you are applying for.
Write down three key accomplishments for each workplace, or at least the last three placements. Include measurements as this increases the likelihood of someone reading your resume.
What do we mean by measureable key accomplishments?
Example
Increase sales pipeline by 25% in the second quarter and personally contributed to the business year-on-year growth by 2%.
Don’t think you have any measurable key accomplishments? You might be wrong. Look at your last performance review or existing job description. Your goals which performance is measured on should be S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, timely).
Still don’t think you have any? We would be happy to talk you through highlighting your key accomplishments, drop us an email.
This is a make or break! Here is a quick do’s and don’ts.
With these simple tips we are certain you are on your way to success! Good luck.
