Long serving Caves Progress Association Vice President and the Caves Rodeo Committee President, Arthur MacDonald, was honoured alongside other passionate individuals and organisations at the Livingstone Shire Australia Day Awards 2018.
The finalists were recognised for their inspiring selfless devotion in making a difference in the local community. “Every community needs to have something locally based. It gives people a sense of worth, value and pride in their community. It’s (Caves Progress Association) all non-for profit; we also support local business and give back to the community,” said Arthur MacDonald.
Arthur has been involved in the Caves Progress Association for 8 years and has been the Vice President for the past 3; he has also been President of the Rodeo Committee since August 2017.
Arthur said that getting young people involved is key and he is starting to see the benefits “More and more people are wanting to be involved; people enjoy the vents and want to get involved. It feels really good.”
Last year was a stellar year for the Caves Progress Association; they held their first local agriculture exhibition that had over 2,000 people attend and the group are busy organising their next.
Arthur has been a Stellar Recruitment Haul Operator since 2017 at Curragh Mine; he truly reflects our values of greatness, positivity and leadership.
A big congratulations to Arthur, the winner Danielle McKenzie and all other nominated people and organisations.
