New Zealand is a unique case because their IT industry is currently thriving and competing on a global scale, however this sees a dip in average salaries, most likely due to the number of eligible employees. The average salary of a service desk analyst in New Zealand is approximately $48, 000 per year. The average salary for an IT project manager in New Zealand is just under $88, 000 per year.

Coding is now being taught in primary and secondary schooling and universities are churning out hundreds of thousands of IT graduates every year. Here’s a list of skills that you can add to your repertoire so separate yourself from the competition, additionally, all of these skills are taught through courses available online:

  • Mobile Development

Long gone are the days where computers were your only access to the digital world. In 2019 there are an estimated 2.5 Billion smartphone users worldwide, all with access to the internet and a variety of apps. Being able to take your technology skills across to another platform can give your skillset another dimension that some other candidates might not have.

Because a good chunk of marketing now takes place digitally, being able to apply your skills to another industry is a real asset. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) abilities are unique because they combine skillsets from both marketing and IT making you proficient in a variety of aspects of business. Having this kind of flexibility looks impressive on a resume.
