Stellar Recruitment partnered with Cure Kids in Stellar’s annual T20 Celebrity Cricket Match.
The cricket game had it all; friendly banter, competition, big hits, big misses and most importantly raised over $6,000 for Cure Kids.
The competition saw long-time friends and Stellar co-founders, Shaun McCambridge and Robbie McIlraith, on opposing teams. Brendan Laney, former Scotland rugby union player, captained the blue team and Shaun captained the red team. They were both supported by celebrity cricket sporting heroes Chris Harris, Grant Elliot, Peter Fulton, and rugby player, Brendan Laney. Rounding out the teams and supporting corporate sponsors were representatives from HEB Construction, Harrison Bloy, TK Plastering, Foleys, Ruamoko Solutions, Lane Neave, Fulton Hogan, Silver Fern Farms, Brian Perry Civil, and Amalgamated Builders Limited.
In an exciting finish, the blue team needed 2 off the last ball and Peter Fulton smashed a massive 6 to win. Callum Harrison from Harrison Bloy put his body on the line in the outfield again and again and Domonic McGarr from Stellar caught all of the balls in the outfield.
The end of the game saw the red team 8 for 202 and the blue team’s taking victory with a total of 206 for 5.
The competition didn’t end at the last ball; we continued the friendly rivalry with a charity auction.
Brendan from Cure Kids said that he is truly grateful to be the recipient of the Stellar Smash for the second year running.
“We’re delighted to continue to partner with Stellar as their support helps fund life-saving child health research, ensuring New Zealand children can reach their full potential.”
Thank you again to everyone who helped make this year’s charity match a success. All funds raised goes directly to Cure Kids, a local Christchurch charity that funds vital medical research for children.
We are passionate about giving back to the local community and are already underway with planning next year’s event.
